设计概念 Design Concepts(中文翻译):
台中城市文化中心将建于台中水湳经贸园区内,基地位在水湳经贸园区北端,经贸园区从总体规划南端延伸到北端,跨越由山丘、树木、微气候设备创造出的各种气候区域。文化中心将包含市立美术馆及市立图书馆,共用公共设施及能将活动延伸到邻近公园和城区的公共广场。
我们将台中城市文化中心想像成公园和城市的延伸,随着设计和文化需求从城市延伸到建筑物本体,景观如同空气、灯光、花园、平台一般,延展到建筑物里面。访客可邻着花园中庭,享受阅读时光:亦可在以公园为背景的展览空间内看展。同时,由于工作坊有机会向平台延伸,常保活动与自然亲近。
本建筑物有十个大小不一的空间单位,满足各种设计需求。有些空间在地面上,有些空间则悬浮着,为其下各种公共空间提供遮荫。这些空间的悬浮,使建筑物各面互相连结,风从建筑物底下舒适的公共空间吹过。根据设计需求,各种空间或紧邻、或彼此交集,与环境产生关系。例如,提供各种装置展示的Project Room(展厅)就与入口大厅及展览空间相连着,并且对外面向着公园,欢迎着访客走进文化中心。
整个建筑物具通透性,透明程度不一。藉由移转不同设计需求的空间,交错出许多中庭似的空间环境,丰富访客的体验。空透的设计,使访客视线可穿透建筑物内各式活动。各种视觉关系应运而生—不管是横穿过建筑物的、或在建筑物上方或下层—缤纷而富有动态感。靠近这个建筑物,从外墙看到里面的活动,就是因为这样,每一次的造访都是全新的感受。
我们希望建筑物成为景观的一部份,而地景随着人口增长而变化,我们希望在地台中居民成为形塑文化馆的一份力量,将文化馆内的活动呈现到公园里,进而到城市中。
评委意见:
安郁茜:「妹岛的作品以浪漫穿透的建筑群,不仅将为台中带来全新的都市空间感受,同时高度落实绿建筑理念,也将让市民体会全新的阅读与观赏的空间。」
评委A:-A dream like cluster of white cubics create a signature of this city and also new vision of organization of Library/Museum/activities.
-Great transparency both visually and circulation-wise.
-梦一般的白色立方体成为城市的地标印记,在图书馆/美术馆的活动排组方面也提出了新的愿景
-不论在视觉上或动线上都有极高的透明度
评委B:The renderings suggest a light and dreamlike presence, airy and delicate: a grouping of enjoyable places, which contribute to and build on the spirit of the park. Perhaps the main reading room and the children\'s space would not need to be as tall as they are shown. The expanded metal mesh, which covers the glass volumes, could be a means of forming/articulating the \'semi-outdoor\' spaces, which Sejima discusses. Her presentation of the project was convincing in her identification of the role of project development, including that there would likely be less glazing.
效果图表现出轻盈、精巧、如梦一般的存在,一系列愉悦的空间场域排列,和公园的本质精神相辅相成。主阅览室和儿童空间也许不需和图中显示的一样高。妹岛提到了「半户外空间」的成形与勾勒,这方面或可运用遮盖玻璃量体的金属菱形扩张网达到效果。简报中妹岛提出了设计发展的下一步,包括应该会减少玻璃立面的面积,发展方向具有说服力。
评委C:Kazuyo Seijima offers a "delightful and pleasurable" urban cultural center in this scheme. The organization of two functions using ten volumes creates remarkably dynamic urban architecture.
妹岛和世在本设计中提供了一个「开心愉悦」的都市文化中心,尤其以10个量体组织了两个馆舍,创造了动感十足的城市建筑。
评委D:An ambitious project whose complexity is, however, more apparent than real. The casual encounter of differently scaled volumes shows little rational of its own and exercises no resistance to interconnection. The overall impression is less one of chance played out versus calculation than one of convenient choices and picturesque arrangement. By contrast to earlier museums projects, the attempt here is to create soft, almost gossamer surfaces as a result of uniform faade scrims. Interior spaces, on the other hand, are dimensioned to an unprecedented scale and threaten to drown out detail as well as overwhelm by their \'vacancy\'. Numerous features, such as footbridges, leave one guessing about their rationale and the technology of realization. The library appears outdated in concept and inconvenient in use while making no special allowances for new and future patterns of use and consultation.
本案企图心十足,案子的复杂性却只流于表面。不同尺度的量体随意地交会,缺乏自体逻辑,衔接处也未表现出任何抗力。整体给人的印象比较像是便利的选择及优美的外观排列后形成的结果,而非偶然机率配合精心计算的对比效果。相较于建筑师早先的美术馆设计案,本设计企图利用一致的立面屏幕塑造出轻柔如薄纱般的质感。内部空间的尺度之大则前所未有,几乎令其它细节都相形失色,给人压倒性的空旷感。诸多如天桥等特色设计,背后逻辑和技术可行性存疑。图书馆的概念似乎已过时且使用不便;方案既未预留弹性因应未来创新的使用模式,也未保留再商榷和调整设计的空间。
评委E:Pros:1. Concept of "3 dimensional park" very enticing. 2. Massing poetic and "dancing" 3. Basic functional organization clear.
Cons:1. The entire attitude is too "preliminary". Making further questioning difficult. 2. Spaces are often too monumental, especially the children\'s part. 3. Energy control would present some difficulty. 4. Noise control would be quite a challenge. 5. "Super-structure" very questionable 6. Operation of the library, maintenance of the building will be a serious challenge. 7. Challenging to Taiwan\'s current building code.
优点:1. 「3D立体公园」的概念引人入胜。2. 量体设计具诗意及舞动感。3. 基本功能配置清晰。
缺点:1. 全案的态度过于初期化,难以进一步分析。2. 大部份的空间过于巨大,尤其是儿童用空间。3. 耗能控制困难。4. 噪音控制将是一大挑战。5. 建筑的整体结构(super-structure)存疑。6. 图书馆的营运和建筑的维修将是严峻挑战。7. 设计要符合现行的台湾营建法规将是挑战。
评委F:It provides an easy access and visual connection for indoor and outdoor space.Base isolation devise are designed to reduce horizontal seismic load.The design is still in the conceptual level.A lot of work is needed.Cost effectiveness of some design concepts need to be re-evaluated.
室内外空间有顺畅的动线与良好的视觉连结。底部隔震装置有助于减少水平地震荷载。设计仍停留在概念阶段。需要许多进一步的发展。须再评估某些设计概念的成本效益。
评委G:The design of museum is good. It is Capable [capable] of appealing to all over the world.I also like that the children\'s space play a pivotal role in the interior.Library may be too spacious. It will require more sense of intimacy. Analysis of construction cost is appropriate.
美术馆的设计很好,有普世的迷人特质。我也很欣赏在室内空间上扮演要角的儿童空间。图书馆或许空间过大,需要加强私密感。工程预算的分析恰当。
        Taichung City Cultural Center is a project within the Gateway District in Taichung, Taiwan. The site is on the Northern side of the Gateway Park that stretches from the South to the North of the master plan with many different climatic zones created by hills, a variety of trees, and mechanical devices. The Cultural Center will hold a Municipal Fine Arts Museum and a new Municipal Library, which share public facilities, as well as public plazas that extend its activities to the surrounding park and the city.
We imagine the Taichung City Cultural Center as an extension of the park and the city. While the programmatic and cultural needs extend into the building from the city, the landscape continues into the building as air, light, garden, and terraces. While some visitors are reading next to a garden courtyard, other visitors may be enjoying an exhibit with the park in the background. Also at the same time, there are opportunities for workshops to extend on to the terrace so the activities are always close to nature.
The building is divided into 10 volumes of various sizes which each hold a distinct program. Some volumes are on the ground and some are lifted to provide various shaded public spaces. By raising the volumes, the different sides of the building connect while the breeze pass through the comfortable public space below the building. According to the programmatic needs, the volumes are at times placed close by or are intersected with one another while creating relationships with the surroundings. For example, the Project Room, where many special installations take place, connects the lobby and the exhibition space. This space faces out towards the park welcoming visitors to the Cultural Center.
The overall building is porous with a varying degree of transparency. By shifting the volumes of program, many courtyard-like in-between spaces are created allowing for visitors to experience new encounters. Visitors see across the building through many layers of activities. Various visual relationships are made - across, above, and below – that are complex and dynamic. When approaching the building, some activities will show through the faade. This way, each time a visitor passes by the Cultural Center, the building will give off a different impression.
We hope that the architecture will become a part of the landscape that changes with the growing population of Taichung. We would like for the people of Taichung to become a part of the identity of the Cultural Center and let the activities happening within to show through to the park and further to the city.
